Heroin use is a prominent in rock culture and teens in general. Although it is not as popular as other substances such as alcohol and cannabis; this is partly due to its Class A drug status is most countries. It’s lesser used recreational drug and is much more common among people with Substance Abuse Disorder, victims of child abuse, children of abusers and mood disorder patients. Although it is popular among rock musicians; these are usually people afflicted with horrible childhoods and the drug should not be use to “see what it feels like” because death and addiction on the first time use is very common.

A former heroin addict would often say they are lucky to be alive. If you suffer from addiction or know someone that does. Create a drug intervention or call for help advice at the local clinic.

Confessions of an Addict

1. Feeling of Euphoria. This is a relaxed state of feeling good, can be described as a feeling on content or happiness due to the reduction in stress. Some users describe it as being kissed by an angel or a half an hour orgasm.

2. Very relaxed state. The user usually won’t be able to stand or move much due to the feeling of heaviness in the legs and arms.

3. On the nod. Users sometimes experience coming in and out of consciousness or alertness, this is described as being ‘on the nod’.

4. Clouded Judgment. The mental functioning of a user is decreased and therefore will not be able to make any rational judgments.

5. Gibberish. While high a user can go into a conversation that makes no apparent sense to anyone around; this can be embarrassing and the person may reveal secrets due to the relaxed state and clouded judgment. An example of this is Christopher Moltisanti in the Sopranos talking gibberish during Tony Sopranos mother’s wake.

6. Decreased heart rate and breathing. Due to the depression in the central nervous system breathing and the heart rate is decreased. Sometimes breathing stops all together causing death.

7. Depression. A user may experience a heightened feeling of depression usually if the user is suffering from the illness prior to use. This could cause spontaneous suicide or give the courage to commit suicide. An example of this is Kurt Cobain ending his life under the influence.

8. Hallucinations. The person may experience visual distortions and be in a dream like state.

9. Bad trip. Is the term used for having a bad experience with heroin, this could happen for a number of reasons such as dosage and the user’s psychological state prior to injecting.

10. Death. Many addicts die on the first use due to allergies, overdoes or both. Some parents have allowed pictures to be released as a warning to others. (check resource section below)
